The power of a movement, of a moment. What will you tell your mokopuna when they ask what did you do to protect our tino rangatiratanga and our mana Motuhake? Today called for us to put aside our usual #TBT post and mark this moment.

Because the Toitū Te Tiriti activation today will stay in the hearts of many and perhaps our future generations will look back and commemorate just as we do now for our tīpuna and their stories.

Nā reira, Ngāti Awa will come together to commemorate the 184th anniversary of the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi here in Whakatāne on June 16, 1840, where we never ceded our rights to tino rangatiratanga but simply extended a hand to a partner.
